JEITA/techUK Joint Proposal for Osaka-Kansai Expo Released
Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai with its promise to design the future of society will place Japan at the centre of global innovation. The UK’s plans for the World Expo with its invitation to come and build the future is equally ambitious. Over the past five years the UK and Japan have built a lasting partnership with technology firmly at its heart, culminating in the massive potential of the Hiroshima Accord. As we come together for Expo 2025 a further strengthening of this vital bi-lateral relationship with practical outcomes and tangible plans for collaboration can be a lasting legacy of the Expo.
The tech sectors of Japan and the UK as represented by JEITA and techUK have come together to speak with one voice through the UK Japan Tech Forum and have consistently supported this joint ambition to benefit both countries through shared innovation and contributions to economic growth. Through this joint statement we reaffirm our belief in the significant advantage that be achieved in our fast moving sector by both countries working more closely together and call upon both Governments to set out a clear roadmap for tech collaboration from the Hiroshima Accord to Osaka 2025 and beyond. In doing this they will have the full support and cooperation from industry and will ultimately enhance the economic and strategic benefits of this critical joint endeavour.
