Five Features of JEITA
- Introduction of Vice Chairmen with Specific Leadership Roles
The system of having vice chairman of JEITA aggressively participate in industry-level activities will enhance the activities of JEITA itself will be strengthened, and its presence enhanced.
- Establishment of the Policy and Strategy Board
This board, in which director-class representatives of member companies will participate, was established with an eye on reinforcing the industry's strategic stance and ability to propose new ideas toward the realization of a digital network society.
- Organization of Six Boards
Each of the six boards has a theme directly related to a major sector in the Japanese electronics and information technology industry. These boards can deal effectively, precisely and autonomously with the issues facing the industry in their fields.
- Five Issue-Specific Committees
The mission of these committees is to study and propose comprehensive responses to legal, environmental and other issues of common interest throughout the industry, including intellectual property rights and the framework of the network society.
- 20% Reduction in Expenses
Compared with 1998, JEIDA and EIAJ have cut their expenses by approximately 10% each, mainly through the elimination of general account budgets owing to reductions in membership fees. However, the forecast for JEITA's budget in fiscal 2001 features an approximately 20% drop in expenses from the full expenses of EIAJ and JEIDA.
